Here's Blu, the working border collie who minds the sheep at Watson Farm in Rhode Island. The photo was taken just after rounding up the sheep. He wants his owner to give him a treat for a job well done.
When creating this portrait I discoverd that I was painting two portraits. The first was of Blu. The second was of the grass. I wanted the background to look realistic, but I discovered that a patch of grass has its own character.
